PatchWord is a small daily word game. We collect the minimum needed to run it, we don't show ads, and we don't sell your data. Here, in plain language, is what we keep and why.
What we collect
- If you create an account: your email address, a securely hashed password, and a display name.
- When you play: the rooms you create or join, the names you use in them, and your submissions, comments, and reactions.
- Technical basics: a login cookie to keep you signed in, and your device's local storage to remember which rooms you've visited. Our servers keep standard logs (including IP address) for security and operation.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or marketing pixels.
How we use it
- To run your account and the game.
- To send the transactional email you ask for — confirming your address and resetting your password.
- If you opt in, to send the once-a-day Daily Docket. It's off unless you turn it on, capped at one email a day, and every one has a single-click unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your data — full stop. We rely on Microsoft Azure to host the app and database and to send our email (via Azure Communication Services); they process this data only to provide those services to us. We'll disclose information if we're legally required to.
Cookies & local storage
A single login cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser's local storage remembers your rooms on your own device. There are no third-party or advertising cookies.
Keeping and deleting your data
Rooms and submissions are kept so the game keeps working. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us (below) and we'll take care of it.
Children
PatchWord isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes & contact
If our practices change, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions, or want your data removed? Email hello@patchword.app.
